Cricket World Cups have always been a platform for bowlers to show their art. The top five all time wicket takers in the world cups have been Glenn McGrath (71), Muttiah Muralitharan (68), Wasim Akram (55), Lasith Malinga (50) and Chaminda Vaas (49). Only Malinga is active among all these players.

Hosts England are playing against Sri Lanka in match 27 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 on June 21, Friday, at Headingley in Leeds. The fortunes of both the teams could not be more diverse. On one hand, there is England, who are the tournament favourite and have played like one, while on the other hand there is the Sri Lanka team which looks like a shadow of the teams that participated in previous world cups.

England has played five matches so far. The hosts have faced South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, West Indies and Afghanistan so far. Barring Pakistan, England has won all the other four matches and won comprehensively. In the last match against Afghanistan, England skipper Eoin Morgan hit a world record 17 sixes in the match en route to his 148 off just 71 balls.

Sri Lanka has also played five matches so far. The island nation faced New Zealand, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Australia. Out of these five games, the matches against Pakistan and Bangladesh had to be abandoned without a ball bowled due to unrelenting rain. Sri Lanka lost to New Zealand and Australia and managed to win only one match which was against Afghanistan.
