The players were selected for all three formats. All eyes were on the chief selector’s statement on MS Dhoni’s retirement. The Chief Selector remained tightlipped on the former Indian skipper’s retirement and said it was his personal decision and has no say in it. While speaking to the press he said, “We had a roadmap in place until the World Cup 2019 and for now Dhoni is unavailable. We are giving enough chances to Rishabh Pant in all three formats and are grooming youngsters.” According to MSK Prasad, Rishabh Pant had done nothing wrong to not get a place into the team. In fact, he also praised the youngster and said that he played well during the India vs New Zealand, CWC 2019 semi-finals.

The selector mentioned that they had given more emphasis on the performances in India A series. The management has included players like Navdeep Saini, Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer have been selected for the T20I series. Players like Hardik Pandya have been rested. Shikhar Dhawan also makes comeback in the squad. Jasprit Bumrah will not be a part of the shorter format of the game and has been selected for the Test squad.
