The Indian team management has cracked its whip and said that the players would have to stay away from their wives and girlfriends (WAGs) for the first three Test matches, against England as per a media report. As India is all set to begin their five-match Test series in England next week, the management has instructed all the players to stay away from their spouses for at least a month. The first Test match of the series will be played at Birmingham, starting from August 1.

Sunday, i.e. July 22, was the last day for the players to rejuvenate themselves and spend some quality time with their partners. India will now play a four-day practise match against Essex at Chelmsford, in London. The first and the only practise game before the full-fledged Test series will begin from July 25.

As a per a report in The Mumbai Mirror, a team official said, “We’ve had four days of rest before settling down for the serious task ahead. The players had moved out with spouses, friends, and relatives and tomorrow, i.e. July 23, the team will leave for Chelmsford.”

The Indian squad, comprising 18 players, has arrived in England and would be moving together to the next match venue, i.e. in Chelmsford. The team management is still contemplating on the injury status of Jasprit Bumrah, who had injured his finger. A team official said, “He had a finger injury, and we are hoping he will recover for the second Test.”

The Indian team, under the leadership of Virat Kohli, would be looking forward to registering a win in the Test series after a bitter-sweet start to the UK tour. The Indian team beat Ireland in the two-match T20I series by 2-0, after winning the T20I series 2-1 against England.

However, the Indian team lost the ODI series 2-1 against the resurgent English side. Come August 1, both India and England would be looking forward to gaining the upper hand, early in the series. Stay tuned with us for all the latest updates and news about India’s tour to England 2018!
