Shahid Afridi was all set to feature in the World Playing XI T20 charity match against West Indies which is scheduled to happen on May 31 at Lords, England. But the Pakistani all-rounder is still recovering from the injury and has been advised another 2-3 weeks of rest.

Afridi took to Twitter and shared the news about him missing out on the tournament. His tweet read, "Went to see my doctor in Dubai, the knee hasnt recovered fully yet. I'll need another 3-4 weeks. Hoping to regain full fitness after that, keep praying for me."

The 38-year-old Afridi hung his boots last year but continues to play T20 leagues across the world. Talking about the squads, the World Playing XI will feature names like Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Tamim Iqbal, Rashid Khan, Mitchell McClenaghan, Shoaib Malik,  Thisara Perera and Luke Ronchi, Sandeep Lamichhane. Eoin Morgan will be leading the side. Whereas the West Indies team has names Samuel Badree, Carlos Brathwaite, Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Marlon Samuels and Andre Russell among others.

Money raised from the match will be donated towards renovating 5 venues including Ronald Webster Park in Anguilla, the Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua, the Windsor Park Stadium in Dominica, the A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground in the British Virgin Islands and the Carib Lumber Ball Park in St. Maarten. These cricket grounds were damaged last year after Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
