A few minutes ago, Kapil Dev announced that Ravi Shastri is the head coach of the Indian cricket team. This is the second time that Shastri has been appointed as the coach and his tenure will last up to November 2021. He was picked ahead of Tom Moody and Mike Hesson. However, the decision did not go down well with social media users as they slammed the BCCI for making such a decision. The interviews for the position of the Head Coach were made at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai. While a few said that they already knew that Ravi would be appointed as the coach, the rest slammed the ‘Coach Selection drama’ that happened for a few days now. Ravi Shastri was amongst the favourites of all the contenders which included names like Lalchand Rajput, Tom Moody, Mike Hesson and Robin Singh. Phil Simmon was the one who withdrew his application on Friday due to personal reasons. As per Kapil Dev, Ravi Shastri made the best presentation out of all the five contenders.

However, today at the press conference Kapil Dev also mentioned that the Indian cricket team did not consul Virat Kohli before the appointment for the head coach. As per the former Indian captain, Mike Hessen was the second best, whereas, Tom Moody stood third.
