The meeting between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Chennai Super Kings marked the beginning of the 2019 Indian Premier League. A lot has changed since then as both teams went about different paths in the points table. MS Dhoni-led Chennai is currently top of the points table while Virat Kohli’s Bangalore is rock bottom. While Chennai have all but made sure they will be in the next round, Bangalore will need to win all their games to stand a chance of making it to the knock out phase. CSK have beaten RCB 16 times in their 24 meetings with RCB managing only 7 wins and 1 game produced no result. Here we take a look at how these teams fared in their last five games. Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings Live Cricket Score 39th T20 Match.

When Mahendra Singh Dhoni is in full flight, there are very players in the world talented enough to contain him. RCB smashed 205/8 thanks to AB De Villiers’s 30-ball 68 but that was not enough to save themselves from the wrath of chase god Dhoni. The Indian wicketkeeper-batsman hit 7 towering sixes en route 70 as CSK won by 5 wickets.

RCB vs CSK – 22nd May 2015 – JSCA Stadium, Ranchi – CSK won by 3 wickets

The Chennai Super Kings showed their big game calibre in qualifier 2 of the 2015 IPL with a 3 wicket win over RCB. They were set a target of 140 by RCB who fumbled batting first with Gayle’s 41 the only thing to talk about. But Virat Kohli marshalled his troops well defending a low score but ultimately it proved futile with CSK advancing to the finals.

CSK vs RCB – May 4 2015 – M A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai – CSK won by 24 runs

Veteran pacer Ashish Nehra picked up three wickets while DJ Bravo finished with two helping CSK defend a target of 149 against RCB. An unfortunate run out of Virat Kohli when he was on 48 changed the complexion of the contest as the visitors failed to recover from this setback. They lost six wickets in space of 27 runs to lose the contest.

Chennai have completely dominated Bangalore in the last six contest and it has been a few years since Virat Kohli triumphed over MS Dhoni in a T20 contest. The hosts will really have to play one of their best games to stop the Chennai juggernaut.
