The last-ball thriller between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium turned out to be a controversial one as umpires made an error and denied the home side a no-ball. RCB needed seven runs off the last ball and TV replays confirmed that Lasith Malinga had overstepped. The umpire, S Ravi, failed to call it a no-ball and left RCB captain Virat Kohli and fans fuming.Ā Funny RCB Memes Go Viral After Virat Kohliās Team Last Ball Loss against MI in IPL 2019! Had the umpire called no-ball, the result could have been different. After the match, when asked about the umpireās mistake Kohli said at IPLās level there is no place for these kinds of errors. āWe are playing at the IPL level and not playing club cricket. The umpires should have had their eyes open. That is a ridiculous call at the last ball. If it is a game of margins, I don't know what is happening. They should have been more sharp and careful out there,ā said Kohli.Ā RCB vs MI, IPL 2019 Highlights: Mumbai Indians Clinch Last Over Thriller Despite AB de Villiersā Heroics.
Kohliās counterpart Rohit Sharma also had similar views and said he was disappointed to see that happen. āI just got to know when we crossed the rope. These kind of things are not good for cricket, one of the Bumrah's deliveries wasn't wide. Players can't do much. Very disappointed to see that,ā said MI skipper Rohit.
Meanwhile, with this win, Mumbai Indians open their account on the IPL 2019 points table. For Royal Challengers Bangalore, it was second back to back defeat. Needing 188 to win, RCB managed only 181 in 20 overs despite AB de Villiers scoring unbeaten 70 off 41 balls.
