Sachin Tendulkar Wishes Hashim Amla a 'Wonderful Retired Life', Calls the South African Batsman Inspiration for Youngsters

Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar always wishes fellow cricketers on their achievements and retirement decisions. After South Africa cricketer Hashim Amla announced his retirement from international cricket on Thursday, the master blaster wished Amla for a wonderful retired life. Terming the South Africa ODI opener inspiration for youngsters, Sachin wrote on Twitter, “You have served your country with great distinction and been a source of inspiration for many youngsters @amlahash! Wishing you a wonderful retired life. Good luck my friend”. Sachin had also wished good luck to Steyn upon his retirement from Tests. Amla was an incredible batsman to play for South Africa. In his 15 years of cricket career, Amla appeared in more than 300 international matches for South Africa. He made his debut against India in 2004 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Amla has been a remarkable batsman. In 124 Tests he played, he smashed 9282 runs at an average of 46+ from 215 innings. In ODIs, he made 8113 runs in 178 innings. In T20s, he surpassed 1K runs with 1277 runs in 44 matches he played.

The right-handed batsman also achieved some remarkable achievements in his career. He was the fastest batsman to reach 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 ODI runs. 36-year-old Amla is the only South Africa player to hit a triple hundred (311) in Test matches. He is also the first South African batsman to hit 25 centuries in ODIs. Amla has hit 55 centuries in international cricket, 27 of which came in ODIs while other 28 in Tests.
