After getting axed from the original squad, wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson has been included in the Indian squad for the three-match T20I series against West Indies which will commence on December 6. Samson has been named as a replacement for injured Shikhar Dhawan. The southpaw sustained a deep cut on his left knee during Delhi vs Maharashtra match in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019. As a result, the opener got ruled out and Samson got a break. However, due to the presence of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, the batsman didn’t get a chance. Nevertheless, with the ouster of Dhawan, Rahul is likely to open the innings which means one spot in the middle-order is still vacant and the youngster would like to grab it with both hands. On the other hand, Dhawan posted a picture of his bleeding knee on Instagram and captioned it with an inspirational message. The batsman wrote about how injuries are the part and parcel of the game and one needs to be positive in any situation of life.
The official Twitter handle of BCCI also took to the social media website to inform about Samson replacing Dhawan. The apex cricket body also told about that wicket-keeper batsman Wriddiman Saha, who was the part of India’s squad in the recently concluded Test series against Bangladesh, will undergo surgery.

Samson has been piling a mountain of runs in the domestic circuit and It will be interesting to see how the youngster will perform in the series. As per Dhawan is concerned, the swashbuckling opener is also included in the ODI squad and will be hoping to recover by that time.
