Dubai, July 16: Sri Lanka Cricket team captain Dinesh Chandimal, coach Chandika Hathurusingha and manager Asanka Gurusinha have been suspended for both the home test matches vs South Africa and the first four ODIs after pleading guilty to "conduct contrary to spirit of the game" during Sri Lanka's tour of West Indies earlier this year. South Africa is in Sri Lanka to play 2 tests, 5 ODI's and one T20I from July 12 to August 14.

International Cricket Council (ICC), the world governing body of Cricket, tweeted about Dinesh Chandimal, coach Chandika Hathurusingha and manager Asanka Gurusinha's suspension. Check the tweets below:

A separate tweet was put up by the ICC regarding the suspension of coach Chandika Hathurusingha and manager Asanka Gurusinha's suspension:

Sri Lanka cricket team captain Dinesh Chandimal had been charged with ball tampering and altering the condition of the ball in the second test match against West Indies played in St. Lucia from June 14- 18. In the ending stages of the second day's play of the test match, Dinesh Chandimal had been picked up by the onfield umpires for changing the condition of the ball.

The Sri Lankan cricket team, in response to the charges on their captain Dinesh Chandimal, had refused to take field after the on-field umpires had decided to change the ball and given West Indies team a chance to pick the new ball. The play had got delayed almost by a couple of hours due to Sri Lanka's refusal to take field on time. Dinesh Chandimal had been charged for breaching Level 2.2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct.

Chandimal, coach Chandika Hathurusingha and manager Asanka Gurusinha were charged by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching its code of conduct with behaviour contrary to the spirit of cricket. Eyebrows were raised when Chandimal was named in the squad despite the pending hearing. But the ICC ruling has made it clear that the player and the coach will miss the majority of the matches against South Africa.
