Mumbai's promising all-rounder, Suryansh Shedge, has earned a call-up to the Indian T20I squads for the twin tours of Ireland and England, replacing the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the change, citing Reddy's injury as the reason for his withdrawal from both series.Β Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Receives India T20I Kit, 15-Year-Old Opener to Don Jersey Number 3.
Shedge's inclusion comes as a reward for his stellar form, particularly his impactful performances for India A in the recently concluded 50-over tri-series in Sri Lanka, which the Indian side won. The 23-year-old was a standout player, accumulating 147 runs across five matches and contributing with the ball, bowling 23 overs in the tournament. His domestic circuit performances have also been noteworthy, including a remarkable 131 runs at a strike rate of 251.92 for Mumbai in their victorious Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign in 2024-25.
India is set to kick off its European tour with a two-match T20I series against Ireland in Belfast. Shreyas Iyer will lead the Indian side, with Tilak Varma as his deputy. Following the short stopover in Ireland, the Indian contingent will head to England for a five-match T20I series against the English squad.
Shedge now joins an exciting Indian squad featuring a blend of experienced players and young talents like 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is also part of the touring party and could potentially make his international debut. The tours present a crucial opportunity for these rising stars to showcase their capabilities on the international stage, building towards future ICC tournaments.
