Australia's Test captain Tim Paine celebrates his 35th birthday on Sunday. Born on November 8, 1984, Paine is one of the best wicket-keepers going around along with being a handy batsman lower down the order. The Tasmanian might not have jaw-dropping numbers as someone like Adam Gilchrist or Brad Haddin but his contribution in the cricket field is beyond batting and wicket-keeping. Paine is known to sledge the opposition batsmen in the utmost cheeky way and when the stump mic is on, the veteran can give any commentator a run for his money. He has made some hilarious comments behind the stumps which have tickled the funny bones of many cricket fans. With the presence of Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, Aussies already have a bowling attack and Paine's verbal effort behind the stumps is making the batsman's job even more difficult. Tim Paine Seeks Virat Kohli’s Response on Playing a Pink Ball Test Match Between India and Australia.

Australians and sledging go hand in hand. Former players like Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke and Shane Warne were known to use their words to good effect and Paine has brilliantly taken their legacy forward. The wicket-keeper batsman got the reins of the Test side in March 2018 when former skipper Steve Smith faced a one-year ban for getting involved in a ball-tampering scandal alongside David Warner and Cameron Bancroft. Since then, Paine has led the Aussies and his sledging tactics got more limelight. Unlike many of his contemporaries, the cricketer doesn't have an aggressive sledging style but instead uses his humour to distract the batsmen. He has also made many fans with his hilarious statements and below we'll look at times when Paine owned the day with his sledging.

Under Paine's leadership, Aussies have managed to draw the Ashes 2019 on England soil and even are placed at the second position in ICC Test Championship points table. They will eye to add many more points in tally in the upcoming series and defeating the Kiwis will certainly not be a bread and butter task.
