Left-arm fast bowler Trent Boult on Wednesday became the third New Zealand bowler to take a hattrick in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). The pacer achieved the feat against Pakistan at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. With this he joins former pacers Danny Morrison and Shane Bond to have taken an ODI hattrick for New Zealand. Boult first removed left-handed opening batsman Fakhar Zaman, followed by wickets of Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez.  PAK vs NZ 1st ODI Live Score

In his second over, Boult first bowled Fakhar, who was looking to play the flick shot. The ball hit batsman’s pad before going on to hit the stumps. On his next delivery, Boult bowled a wide one outside the off-stump. Babar chased the ball and ended up hitting it towards the wide first slip where Ross Taylor fumbled to complete the catch. It was Hafeez who was Boult’s third consecutive victim. The right-hander was trapped in front of the wickets, though he opted for DRS (Decision Review System) but all in vain. New Zealand Batting Pair Joe Carter and Brett Hampton Smash Record 43 Runs in One Over, Watch Video Highlights

Boult’s hattrick came in third over of Pakistan’s chase and the Green Shirts went from 8/0 to 8/3 in space of three balls. Interestingly, Boult was not part of the T20I side which was whitewashed by Pakistan a few days ago in the three-match series.

Here’s the video of Trent Boult’s hattrick:

Batting first, New Zealand managed to score 266 for nine in their allotted 50 overs. After losing early wickets, Ross Taylor and Tom Latham helped Kiwis rebuild the innings. Taylor was top-scorer for his side with 80 runs while Latham scored 68. New Zealand then lost momentum by losing three wickets in the 42nd over. However, the visitors limped to a decent total.
