A video shot and shared by star cricketer and dutiful husband, Virat Kohli of his lovely actress wife, Anushka Sharma has sparked a massive debate on the social media. Twitterati feels the couple were trying to copy none other than ‘God of Cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar. Oh, wait a second. We hope you are aware of the ‘sensational’ viral footage. Let me tell you anyway. It so happened that the power couple were travelling in their car when wifey Anushka pulled up a man sitting in his SUV – yes, the high-voltage drama took place on the road! Rolling down her car window, the Bollywood diva berated this guy now identified as Arhhan Singh for throwing a plastic bottle out of his vehicle. While Anushka yelled at the man guilty of littering, Virat backed his wife’s anger with an explosive tweet. Anushka Sharma's 'Swachh Bharat' Video: Twitterati Calls Out On Virat Kohli For Terming His Better Half's Act 'Courageous' - Here's Why.

On June 16, Kohli tweeted a video with an angry tweet (minus the cuss words he uses on the field) writing, “Saw these people throwing garbage on the road & pulled them up rightfully. Travelling in a luxury car and brains gone for a toss. These people will keep our country clean? Yeah right! If you see something wrong happening like this, do the same & spread awareness. @AnushkaSharma.” This got their fans and followers bow down to the couple who stood up for ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ or simply passion towards maintaining cleanliness in the city. A huge round of applause for the duo. However, while people supported the cause, not everyone seemed happy with the manner in which it was conducted.

Netizens slammed Anushka Sharma of being outrightly rude and did not hesitate from terming her as a bully. Not just the 30-year-old actress, even the manner in which her husband tweeted, it reflected how the duo encashed their celebrity status to the fullest. One of the reasons why the star pair were bashed up by netizens is because their act of publicly schooling an individual on the road looked eerily similar to the incident when former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar tutored few of the bike riders to wear a helmet.

While both star cricketers had solid reason to raise their voices (Virat supported Anushka as she lashed out the guilty), their mannerisms differed, and that’s what netizens have been trying to convey to Virushka. When Sachin on streets of Kerala pulled up few pillion-riders, he politely told them ‘helmet daalo’, he showed concern for them. With rising incidents of road accidents, Sachin Tendulkar’s advice in a gentle manner would be heard and followed by many. In contrary, Twitterati felt Virat and Anushka acted like bullies (reread Kohli’s tweet) who could shame anyone at their will.

Meanwhile, Anushka’s ‘Garbage Man’ and his mother has rebuked the actress for violating their privacy rights. Sharing a post on Facebook, Arhhan Singh said he is “apologetic” for his carelessness but did not mince words in criticising Anushka “ranting and yelling” at him “like a crazy roadside person”. He also slammed Virat for recording the video and sharing it online. He writes, ““(It) was way less then the garbage that came out from your mouth... From your luxury car’s window... Or the trashy mind Virat Kohli to shoot and post this online... For whatever gains...” he said. Meanwhile, Arhhan’s mother questioned the star couple of putting his son’s life in danger from the fanatics. Honestly, do you think Virat and Anushka really acted like responsible citizens or merely attention-seeking celebs run by their PR machinery?
