India lost to Oman in the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualifier 1-0 after a hard-fought match. Muhsen Al Ghassani scored the sole goal of the match to bag victory for Oman. He scored in the 33rd minute to give a lead to Oman in the first half-itself. Ghassani made India goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu completely confused and scored the goal. Oman also got a penalty just at the 7th minute. However, Muhsen kicked the ball far and wide off the goal post to miss a crucial opportunity. However, he later scored for Oman to make up for his lost opportunity. There was a chance of a goal for Indian team in the 21st minute. Brandon Fernandes passed the ball to Sunil Chhetri at the far post. India haven't won any of their five matches so far in FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualifier. India lost an earlier game against Oman 2-1 in September 2019. India's second game against Qatar ended in a goalless draw. India also tied their match against Bangladesh 1-1 while another game against Afghanistan ended in a 1-1 draw. In five matches so far, India have lost two and tied three.

India have now moved to the 4th spot in Group E standings in FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualifier, followed by Bangladesh in the fifth spot. Qatar lead the points table with four wins in five of their game. Oman, after defeating India in today's match, have moved to the second spot with four wins in five matches.
