Washington Sundar, the young Indian cricketer is celebrating his birthday on October 5 (Saturday). The batting all-rounder turns 20-year-old today. Sundar is one of the emerging cricketers from Tamil Nadu, who has already made his international debut. Sundar showed his brilliant ability in the Nidahas Trophy 2018, where he bagged player of the series award for taking maximum 8 wickets. Talking about Sundar's statistics in international cricket so far, he has only played 1 ODI and 7 T20Is for India. While he has 1 wicket in ODIs, he has grabbed 10 wickets in T20Is. Sundar boasts for great numbers in first-class cricket, where he has played only 12 matches and scored 532 runs along with 30 wickets. He has also cinched two five-wicket hauls in his FA career.   1. Washington Sundar is a left-handed batsman but a right-arm bowler. He bowls off-spin.
  2. He made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu in Ranji Trophy 2016-17.
  3. Sundar’s father named him after his mentor PD Washington, as a mark of thanksgiving.
  4. Sundar used to play as a batsman earlier. Later, he grabbed attention as an off-spinner.
  5. While making his international debut against Sri Lanka in December 2017, he became the youngest Indian player to debut for India in T20Is at the age of 18 years and 80 days.

Sundar has also been part of Indian Premier Leagues. In 2017, Team Rising Pune Supergiants selected him as a replacement for Ravichandran Ashwin. During the Qualifier 1 match in IPL 2017 between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants, he took 3 wickets for 16 runs.
