Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan), September 14: India didn't have a great start at the World Wrestling Championships which began in Nur-Sultan in Kazakhstan as none of the four Greco Roman wrestlers, who were in action on Saturday, were able to win their respective matches. Competing in non-Olympic categories, Harpeet Singh (82kg), Sagar (63kg), and Manjeet (55kg) could not even score a single point in their respective bouts. Bajrang Punia Wins Gold Medal in 65kg Freestyle at Tbilisi Grand Prix 2019 Wrestling in Georgia.

Only Yogesh, in the 72kg weight category, resisted his American rival Raymond Anthony Bunker III before suffering a narrow 5-6 defeat. In the 82kg category, Asian Championship silver medallist Harpreet lost 0-7 to Petr Novak without giving any fight to his Czech opponent.

In the 55kg category, Manjeet lost to reigning World Champion Azizli by technical superiority. The fifth-seeded Indian gave his all but couldn't succeed in the pre-quarterfinals. In the 63kg category, Sagar didn't seem to be in control of the game and lost 0-9 to local wrestler A. Kebispayev. The Indian wrestlers can still be in contention for bronze medals via repechage if their winners reach the title clash.
