Tokyo put on a firework display at the Tokyo Bay to mark the six-month-to-go milestone for the mega event later this year. Tokyo was selected as the host city for the Olympics during the 125th IOC Session in Buenos Aries, Argentina on September 7, 2013. This will be the second time that Japan and specifically Tokyo will host the summer Olympics game, the first being in 1964. The Japanese residents needed to enjoy the fireworks as more than 70 summer festivals across the country featuring the traditional firework shows have been cancelled or their dates have been changed. It is understood that the Summer Olympics were the reason for the rescheduling of those festivals as there was a shortage of Police and security due to their assignment to the Olympics.
