Amazon India Hires Over 1,60,000 Seasonal Workers Across 400 Cities Ahead of Festive Season
Amazon India has created over 1,60,000 seasonal jobs across 400-plus cities ahead of the festive season. The hiring drive supports expanded e-commerce and quick-commerce operations, focusing on workforce diversity and employee welfare benefits. The company stated that the majority of these seasonal associates have already been hired and are undergoing specialised training.

Ahead of the upcoming festive period, Amazon India has announced the creation of more than 160,000 seasonal work opportunities across its pan-India operations network, aiming to bolster its e-commerce and quick-commerce capabilities nationwide.
Expanding Nationwide Reach
The newly created direct and indirect positions span across more than 400 cities in India. The recruitment drive covers major metropolitan areas as well as Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, including Varanasi, Kochi, Jalandhar, Ghaziabad, Ranchi, Salem, and Gorakhpur, Amazon said. A significant portion of these roles has been established within the growing Amazon Now network to support rapid delivery services. The expanded workforce will assist with picking, packing, shipping, and delivering customer orders as demand surges ahead of the festive season.
Focus on Workplace Diversity and Inclusion
As part of its workforce expansion, Amazon has onboarded thousands of women and associates with disabilities across its fulfilment and delivery network. The company stated that the majority of these seasonal associates have already been hired and are undergoing specialised training. Furthermore, all seasonal workers will receive access to safety and welfare programs, including workplace safety measures, provident fund (PF), Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), and gratuity benefits in accordance with applicable laws. Through its Samridhi program, Amazon is also assisting associates in registering on the e-shram portal to access broader government welfare schemes.

Commenting on the announcement, Abhinav Singh, VP of Operations at Amazon India, APAC, Middle East, Africa, and Turkiye, emphasised the company's operational goals and commitment to inclusivity. "We are committed to providing customers across every pin-code in India with fast and reliable deliveries this festive season. To meet the anticipated increase in customer demand, we have created over 1.6 lakh seasonal work opportunities across our operations network," Singh said. "As we focus on building one of India's largest, safest, fastest and most reliable operations network, we are also committed to building an inclusive workforce, with opportunities for thousands of women associates and persons with disabilities," he added. Amazon noted that many seasonal associates often transition into long-term roles beyond the festive period or return to work with the company year after year.
