Google has announced that its personalized image generation feature for the Gemini app is now available to all eligible users in the United States at no additional cost. Previously restricted to AI Premium subscribers, the feature leverages the company’s "Nano Banana" image generation model and integrates directly with a user’s personal digital context.

As per a blog by Google, this update allows the Gemini app to pull relevant information from connected services, including Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Google Search, to create images that reflect a user’s specific lifestyle and interests. By removing the paywall, Google is opening up one of the platform’s most distinctive personalisation tools to its wider user base. How To Reserve Your WhatsApp Username Before Feature Rolls Out.

Simplifying Creative Workflows

The integration of Personal Intelligence aims to reduce the need for complex, highly detailed prompts. Instead of manually describing every element or uploading reference photos, users can now provide simple requests, such as "design my dream house" or "create an illustration of me and my favourite things."

Gemini’s AI model, Nano Banana, automatically fills in the blanks by grounding the output in the user’s established preferences and digital history. For users who link their Google Photos library, the tool can even identify and include specific people and pets based on existing labels, allowing them to feature as the subjects of the generated artwork.

Google Privacy and Opt-In Controls

Google emphasises that the use of personal data for image generation remains entirely optional. Connecting Google apps to Gemini is an opt-in experience, and users can adjust or revoke these permissions at any time through the app’s settings. Are WhatsApp Users at Risk? The company has clarified that it does not train its AI models on private content from a user's Google Photos library. To maintain transparency, all images generated by Nano Banana are embedded with SynthID, a digital watermark that identifies them as AI-created content. While the feature is currently rolling out to all eligible U.S. users, Google has noted that image editing and generation capabilities are subject to age requirements, with full editing features currently reserved for users aged 18 and older.
