Mumbai, July 17:Ā A WhatsApp scam message went viral claiming thatĀ Indian billionaire Mukesh AmbaniĀ was offering users a free recharge plan to celebrate hisĀ son, Anant Ambani's marriage with Radhika Merchant. The people who saw this message on theĀ WhatsApp chat application, believed it was an authentic offer from Mukesh Ambani.
Taking advantage of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding, scamsters shared this message to lure people into a trap. Reliance Jio furtherĀ advised that people should not believe such messagesĀ as they could lead to financial losses. TheĀ companyĀ said that usersĀ must use official sources like the MyJio app or trusted paymentĀ applications likeĀ Google Pay. TheĀ WhatsApp scam messageĀ about Reliance Jio's free rechargeĀ asked people to click on a blueĀ link, which resulted in them landing on an unofficial website link.Ā
The reports mentioned that news likeĀ Reliance JIo offering three months of free recharge would be widely covered by the news companies; however, this was not the case.Ā
