What Is Skyroot Vikram-1?

Vikram-1 is a four-stage launch vehicle developed by Skyroot Aerospace to place small satellites into low-Earth orbit. Standing nearly seven storeys tall, the rocket features three solid-fuel stages and a restartable liquid-fuel upper stage, allowing precise satellite deployment.

Unlike Vikram-S, which completed a suborbital mission in 2022, Vikram-1 is designed to achieve orbital flight. The mission will validate key technologies, including propulsion, navigation, guidance, stage separation and flight software, ahead of commercial operations.

Mission Aagaman Marks A Historic Milestone

Founded in 2018 by former ISRO engineers Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, Skyroot Aerospace became the first Indian private company to launch a rocket into space with Vikram-S in 2022.

Mission Aagaman now aims to make history by becoming the first privately built Indian rocket to place payloads into orbit from Indian soil with ISRO's support. The rocket is also carrying multiple technology demonstration payloads from Indian and international partners.

A successful launch would mark a major boost for India's private space sector, expand domestic satellite launch capabilities and strengthen the country's position in the global commercial space industry.
