A former New Jersey middle school special education teacher has been sentenced to 12 years in state prison for s*xually abusing a 15-year-old student. Allison Havemann-Niedrach, 45, of Jackson Township, learned her fate on Friday, August 28, following an investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Bureau and the Freehold Borough Police Department. She must serve a minimum of 85 per cent of her sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
Investigation and Grooming Tactics
The criminal conduct began in January 2024 and continued for approximately six months before Havemann-Niedrach was arrested in June 2024, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago. Brooklyn Street Attack Video: Man S*xually Assaults Woman in New York.
Investigators found that Havemann-Niedrach started grooming the student in the fall of 2023 by attending his sporting events and buying him gifts, including a s*x toy. Assistant Prosecutor Danielle Zanzuccki noted in court that the pair exchanged roughly 25,000 text messages, and another teacher reported seeing the defendant rubbing the student's neck, back, and leg while appearing to flirt with him.
The relationship came to light after a school vice principal notified police in June 2024. The victim's mother had grown suspicious after learning her son was frequently on his phone late at night and seen in his teacher's car. The teen ultimately admitted to authorities that he and Havemann-Niedrach engaged in a s*xual relationship starting in January 2024, meeting at her home and at hotels.
Court Proceedings and Sentencing
Havemann-Niedrach pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated s*xual assault in January 2026. During the sentencing hearing, the victim addressed the court, stating that he faced severe social difficulties in high school after details of the ordeal became public. “For two or three years, I thought it was my fault,” he said, adding that he had forgiven her, which prompted Havemann-Niedrach to begin sobbing, reports Asbury Park Press. In her own statement, Havemann-Niedrach apologised “profusely", saying she was “moved by his forgiveness". Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Jill G. O’Malley delivered a stern rebuke to the former educator. “You are his trauma. You ruined him,” the judge told her, noting that the teen had experienced suicidal ideation during the summer of 2024. In addition to the 12-year prison sentence, Havemann-Niedrach faces permanent forfeiture of public office, the surrender of her teaching license, lifetime parole supervision, and mandatory registration as a s*x offender under Megan’s Law.
