Valmiki Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Maharishi Valmiki, who was the author of the epic Ramayana and was a prominent sage and poet. He is called Adi Kavi, the first poet of the Sanskrit language. Valmiki Jayanti 2022 will be observed on October 9, Sunday and it is also called Pragat Diwas. Hindu devotees honour Maharishi Valmiki on this day and pay respects to him for telling Lord Rama’s story to the world. His birth anniversary is always observed on the full moon day of Ashwin month.
