Samvatsari is an annual festival celebrated by the Jain community essentially to seek forgiveness for hurting other people’s sentiments, knowingly or unknowingly. Jains are said to perform a penitential retreat called ‘samvatsari pratikramana’, after which they seek forgiveness from others for any words, actions or deeds that might have hurt others.
