Elections were held today for the 272 general seats of the Pakistan national assembly, along with the 577 seats of the four provincial assemblies in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Punjab.

One major terror attack was reported in the restive province of Balochistan, where suspected ISIS militants carried out a bomb attack at a polling booth in capital Quetta, leading to the death of 30 civlians and injuries to over 50 others.

Pakistan's former cricket team captain and chief of Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan is pitched as the favourite to win the prime ministerial race.

In the last elections, the PML-N of ousted PM Nawaz Sharif emerged victorious with a landslide victory, bagging 171 of the 272 general seats contested.

The Pakistan People's Party, led by Bilawal Bhutto, is expected to end up as the second runner-up in the elections. The party, however, is likely to retain its stronghold of Sindh.
