According to the FIR filed at Ratta Amral police station on the complaint of Saba's stepbrother, Adnan Butt allegedly entered the house carrying a pistol at around 9pm, reports said. The accused allegedly confronted Saba and accused her of infidelity before opening fire. A bullet reportedly struck Saba in the forehead, killing her on the spot. The family, however, has alleged that Butt had been pursuing Saba and that she was killed after rejecting his advances. This allegation is central to the family's account of the circumstances leading to the shooting, while the FIR records the accused's alleged accusation of infidelity. Saba was married to Zeeshan Mahmood but had reportedly been living separately from her husband at her parents' home amid domestic disputes.
The FIR also alleges that after the shooting, Butt and an accomplice kidnapped Saba's stepbrother and kept him in illegal confinement for around 21 hours. He was allegedly threatened with death if he informed police about the murder.
Police records cited in reports also show that Butt and his two brothers have a combined 33 cases registered against them, including allegations related to drugs, illegal weapons, theft, robbery, dacoity, rioting and fighting.
The case remains under investigation, while authorities have ordered a probe into the incident.
