Peshawar, June 7:  Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s cousin Noor Jehan will be contesting the upcoming general elections in Pakistan from Peshawar constituency. According to reports,  Noor has collected her nomination forms from the country's Election Commission and will be running for a Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly seat from the PK-77 constituency.

Reports state that Noor belongs to Mohallah Shah Wali Qatal in Peshawar, where she has started her election campaign. Before applying for provincial assembly, she has served as a councillor. Noor has been active in politics over the past few years. The candidate has full support from her neighbours who said they would stand with her as she has been by their side through thick and thin.

According to details by Pakistan's Geo News, Noor  said, “I hope people support me in the same way they support Shah Rukh Khan.” It must be noted that Shah Rukh's cousin will be participating in the polls as an independent candidate.

The report further informs that the Peshawar constituency seat was previously occupied by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shaukat Yousufzai and fell vacant after the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly dissolved completing its tenure last week, late at night on May 28.
