UK: Car Crashes Into Barriers Outside Parliament, Several Injured, Driver Arrested

London, Aug 14: Several people were injured after a driver crashed his car into a security barrier outside the UK Houses of Parliament, in central London on Tuesday morning. The accused driver was arrested and streets around Parliament Square, Millbank and Victoria Tower Gardens were cordoned off follwoing the crash.

"At 07:37 hrs today, a car was in collision with barriers outside the Houses of Parliament. The male driver of the car was detained by officers at the scene. A number of pedestrians have been injured. Officers remain at the scene. We will issue further info when we have it," London's Metropolitan Police said in a tweet.

"At this stage, officers do not believe that anybody is in a life-threatening condition. Cordons are in place to assist the investigation. Westminster tube station is closed," the police added. A number of ambulences were seen at the spot. It was unclear if the incident was terror related.
