One of the most significant incidents reported was the collapse of Hotel Eduard's building in La Guaira. Multiple residential and commercial buildings also suffered severe structural damage in Caracas and surrounding areas, trapping people beneath the rubble. Emergency responders continued rescue efforts as officials assessed the full extent of the destruction.

Authorities also reported damage to roads, public infrastructure and telecommunications. Simón Bolívar International Airport was closed after sustaining structural damage, while schools and public services were suspended in several regions. Tremors Felt Across the Region
The earthquakes struck within seconds of each other near Morón on Venezuela's Caribbean coast. Shaking was reported hundreds of kilometres away, with evacuations taking place as far as Brazil's Amazon region, around 1,700 kilometres from the epicentre. The US Geological Survey described the event as a rare seismic doublet and warned that the earthquakes had the potential to cause widespread damage and high casualties, though officials were still working to determine the final toll.
Authorities Monitor Aftershocks
Officials have warned that aftershocks are likely in the coming days and urged residents to avoid damaged buildings until inspections are completed. Hospitals have mobilised additional staff to treat the injured, while emergency shelters have been opened for displaced residents.
Search and rescue operations remain ongoing as authorities continue to assess damage, restore essential services and locate people who may still be trapped beneath collapsed structures.
