Thane, Jan 24 (PTI) An unidentified man and woman duo has been booked for trying to kidnap two 11-year-old girls from outside a school in Mira Road in Thane district, police said on Friday.

The incident took place at around 5pm on January 22 and teams have been formed the nab the two persons, said an official.

"The two Class IV students were waiting for an autorickshaw after school to get home. A burkha-clad woman came in a white car driven by a masked man and pulled both of them inside and sped away. The two girls were threatened with a knife when they shouted," he said.

"When the car slowed down at one point, one of the girls bit the woman and the two children managed to jump out of the car and escape. They called their parents from a passerby's phone. A kidnapping case was registered on Thursday at Naya Nagar police station," he added.
