Jamshedpur, July 20: A court in Seraikela-Kharswan district of Jharkhand today sentenced four people to life imprisonment for the rape and murder of a teenage girl in Chandil sub-division in 2011.

The court of Additional District and Session Judge III sentenced Shankar Singh alias Budha, Ramesh Singh, Angad Pramanik alias Hablu and Shivcharan Singh to life imprisonment and also slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 each on them, Public Prosecutor Rajeev Singh said.

The public prosecutor said in the FIR, it was stated that on October 20, 2011, the four people had raped and killed the 16-year-old girl when she had gone to attend nature's call in Fadulgora village.

The court ordered the four convicts to pay half of the fine amount to the parents of the victim and directed the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority to take initiative to pay compensation according to the Victims' Compensation Scheme.
