Ghaziabad, Jun 20 (PTI) Three teenage boys drowned while taking bath in a pond in Tyodi Saat Biswa village under Modi Nagar circle, police said today.

The incident occurred when five boys, Danish (9), Rehan (13), Assad (8), Mohammad Maaz (9) and Muzassim, went to a pond in their village to take bath, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Chauhan said.

Rehan, who was bathing near the bank reached his home and narrated the whole episode. The family members and other locals reached the spot and fished out the boys.

Danish, Mohammad Maaz and Muzassim were rushed to a private hospital in Hapur where doctors declared them brought dead.

Assad, who was on a ventilator, succumbed to death today.

The enraged villagers alleged that the fish contractor had dug deep pits by JCB to enhance fish farming and left erecting boundary wall around the pond.

SDM Pawan Agarwal and circle officer Dharmendra Chauhan pacified the villagers and assured them to take proper action against the errant contractor.
