Guwahati (Assam) [India], Mar 9 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday laid the foundation stone for a Convention Centre cum State Guest House here.Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said, “Guwahati is the gateway to South East Asian nations, infrastructural development of the city has been one of the core agenda of the state government. Therefore, the government has conceived of the plan of constructing a convention centre and a state guest house to accommodate people coming to the capital city from different places.”He also asserted that previously Guwahati had a very few facilities to hold a convention of international standard. However, with the completion of this proposed convention centre, the city will be able to host conventions, meetings etc of international standards in Guwahati itself.Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, State Minister who was present on the occasion assured that the project would be completed within a period of 24 months.
