London (UK), August 22 (ANI): Actor Jacob Elordi has avoided questions about ongoing speculation linking him to the iconic role of James Bond, saying he was in London only for a holiday while promoting his upcoming film 'The Dog Stars', according to People.

Elordi, 29, attended the London premiere of "The Dog Stars" on Thursday and was asked by Variety if his visit to the city included discussions about potentially playing 007 in the upcoming James Bond film being developed by Amazon MGM Studios.

"I'm here on holiday," Elordi said while responding to questions about the Bond casting rumours.

The actor has been linked with the role for several years, with speculation intensifying after Daniel Craig stepped away from the franchise following his final appearance as Bond in 2021's "No Time to Die."

Elordi was previously asked about the rumours in 2023 while promoting "Saltburn." Reacting to the speculation at the time, he said, "Oh my goodness, wow. That's beautiful," according to People.

"I just like that people maybe want to put me in their movies. That makes me really glad," he added.

The next James Bond film is set to be directed by Denis Villeneuve, known for films including "Dune," "Arrival," "Sicario" and "Blade Runner 2049," according to People.

Amy Pascal and David Heyman will produce the film through Pascal Pictures and Heyday Films, respectively, while Tanya Lapointe will serve as executive producer. The screenplay is being written by Steven Knight.

Pascal recently said that the announcement of the next actor to play James Bond could come by the end of the year.

"We are being really, really methodical. Having worked with Barbara Broccoli at the studio, I mean, Daniel Craig is a hard act to follow," Pascal said, adding that the new Bond should be "something really different that is a stirring and exciting and different."

Meanwhile, Elordi's "The Dog Stars", directed by Ridley Scott and featuring a cast including Josh Brolin, Allison Janney, Guy Pearce, Margaret Qualley and Benedict Wong, is scheduled to release in theatres on August 28, according to People. (ANI)
