Patna (Bihar) [India], August 24 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Monday conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Patna, Begusarai and Bhagalpur districts following a rise in the water level of the Ganga River.
He reviewed the flood situation, waterlogging, relief operations and preparedness measures with senior officials and directed them to ensure continuous monitoring of sensitive areas.

In a post on X, Bihar CM wrote, "An aerial survey was conducted of the flood-affected districts of Patna, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Naugachia, Begusarai, and Khagaria to assess the current situation. During this time, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary was present."

"Ensuring the safety of affected people, providing relief, and making essential facilities available is our utmost priority. Instructions have been given to the administration to carry out relief and rescue operations with complete promptness," the post read.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting at Bhagalpur Airport after the survey and instructed officials to remain on alert and take all necessary steps to provide timely relief and assistance to affected people. He emphasised that residents in vulnerable and low-lying areas should receive essential supplies and support without delay.
According to officials, the rise in the Ganga's water level has impacted several areas, including Patna, Begusarai, Saran, Khagaria, Bhagalpur and Katihar districts.
The Chief Minister directed district administrations and concerned departments to work in coordination and maintain regular surveillance over embankments and flood-prone regions, as per an official release.
He also spoke with the Chief Minister of West Bengal regarding the opening of Farakka Barrage gates and discussed the prevailing flood situation.
Senior officials, including Water Resources Department Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Urban Development Minister Jibesh Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister S Siddharth and other senior administrative and police officers, were present during the review meeting. (ANI)
