Faridabad: Teen Who Was Kidnapped and S*xually Assaulted Tries To Die by Suicide After Learning She Was Pregnant
A 14-year-old girl who had allegedly been kidnapped and s*xually assaulted attempted to die by suicide at the Faridabad district court complex on Saturday after learning that she was pregnant. The minor survived without major injuries after landing on a tin shed below a third-floor window. Police have filed a POCSO case and placed the girl under protection.
A 14-year-old girl who had allegedly been kidnapped and s*xually assaulted attempted to die by suicide at the Faridabad district court complex on Saturday, August 22, after learning that she was pregnant, police said on Sunday. The girl, however, landed on a tin shed below the window and did not suffer any major injuries, they said.
The minor, who was rescued on Friday, August 21, from Faridabad, was taken to the district court on Saturday to record her statement and complete other proceedings before the magistrate, Hindustan Times reported. During the proceedings, her medical examination reports, prepared as part of the investigation, were placed before the magistrate and indicated that she was pregnant, police said. Attempted Suicide at District Court Complex
Distressed after learning about her pregnancy, the girl told an accompanying woman constable that she was feeling nauseous and wanted to use the washroom. She then allegedly attempted to jump out of a window of a washroom cubicle on the third floor of the court building. She landed on a tin shed below the window and was not majorly injured, police said. She was immediately brought down and taken to the police station.
The girl was allegedly kidnapped in the first week of August. After her parents approached the police, teams were formed to trace her, and she was rescued on Friday from Faridabad.
Police said their investigation revealed that a man who lived in the same locality as the girl had allegedly abducted and s*xually assaulted her. The police did not disclose the exact location in Faridabad from where she was rescued.
A case under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, was filed against the accused. Police officials said further investigation was underway and the circumstances surrounding the girl’s disappearance and the events leading up to her pregnancy were being examined. The girl is currently under police protection, officials said.
“The girl is under police protection and will be provided with all the necessary help. Our teams are investigating all the facts, and further action will be taken based on our findings,” said Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav.
