India News | Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Inspects Waterlogging Amid Heavy Rain, Directs Officials to Deploy Pumps

New Delhi [India], September 5 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday conducted a surprise inspection of Sadhbhavana Park and adjoining roads amid continuous rainfall and took stock of the waterlogging situation in the area.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister interacted with officials and on-ground staff to assess the arrangements for water drainage and understand the challenges being faced during the ongoing rainfall.

Gupta directed officials to immediately deploy pumps and other necessary resources in waterlogged areas and ensure prompt drainage of accumulated water.

She stressed that all concerned departments must work with full preparedness and coordination to ensure that Delhi residents do not face inconvenience due to the rain.

Meanwhile, heavy waterlogging was also witnessed on Sohna Road and Sheetla Mata Road in Gurugram following the rainfall.

Waterlogging and puddles were also seen on streets in Sector 21 and along the Old Delhi-Gurugram Road after heavy rain in the morning.

A fresh spell of rain lashed several parts of the national capital on Saturday morning, bringing respite to residents from hot and humid conditions following heavy showers a day earlier. Several localities, including South Avenue, witnessed light rain during the morning hours.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), areas such as Palam, Jafarpur, Lodhi Road, Safdarjung and Ridge received light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. The weather department has forecast a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain throughout the day. The temperature was recorded at 26.4 degrees Celsius as of 8:30 am.

However, the rain also led to waterlogging in several parts of the national capital. Localities including Geeta Colony and Akbar Road witnessed light accumulation of rainwater during the morning hours. (ANI)
