India News | Former AAP MLA MCOCA Case: Delhi High Court Reserves Order on Naresh Balyan's Bail Plea

New Delhi [India], July 28 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Tuesday reserved its order on the bail plea of former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Balyan in a Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) case linked to alleged gangster Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu. Balyan was arrested in December 2024 in this case.
Justice Manoj Jain reserved the order after hearing arguements advanced by the counsel for Naresh Balyan and Senior Advocate Amit Prasad alongwith Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Akhand Pratap Singh for Delhi Police.

The bench has also asked Umed Singh to join the investigation in the case by Friday at the Crime Branch of Delhi Police. He had approached the court for a stay on arrest and setting aside the order issuing a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) against him.
Balyan is an accsued in an MCOCA case linked with an organised crime syndicate allegedly run by Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu. Balyan has been in custody since December 4, 2024.
His counsel had argued that Naresh Balyan is not involved in crime or criminal activity. He even filed a complaint against Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu.
During arguements senior counsel for Balyan had submitted that Delhi police obtained the voice sample of Naresh Balyan, not any other Accused. It is not established that the voice is of Naresh Balyan.
Delhi police is relying on an audio clip of a mobile conversation allegedly between Balyan and Sangwan. It has also recorded the statement of victims and protected witnesses against the syndicate. It has also recorded the confession statment of Sachin Chikara and Rohit alias Anna.
Balyan had moved to the high court after his bail plea was rejected by the trial court.
Delhi police crime branch had charge-sheeted Naresh Balyan and several others in a case of MCOCA alleging that they are part of an organised crime syndicate allegedly run by gangster Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu, who is absconding and allegedly hiding in the United Kingdom. (ANI)
