Narayanpur (Maharashtra) [India], September 23 (ANI): Three Naxals, two men and one woman, were killed in an encounter with security forces in the forests of Abujhmad, near the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border, the Narayanpur police reported on Monday.

An AK-47 and other arms and ammunition were also recovered, the police added.

According to the police, security forces launched a search operation after receiving information about the presence of Maoists in the Maad area, located near the border of Maharashtra's Narayanpur district.

The encounter between the forces and the Maoists began at 4 pm on Monday, officials said.

The search operation is still ongoing.
