India News | Mumbai Customs Seize over 10 Kg Gold in 3 Days, Five Passengers Arrested

Mumbai (Mahrashtra) [India], June 14 (ANI): In three days, Mumbai Customs seized over 10.50 kg of gold valued at Rs 6.64 crore in 15 cases, said officials on Friday.
According to Mumbai customs officials, the seizures, made between June 11 and 13, resulted in the arrest of five individuals.

The seized gold was found concealed in various ingenious ways, including under bus seats, inside the wheels of trolley suitcases, and both on and inside the bodies of the individuals involved.
"During June 11-13, 2024, Mumbai Customs seized over 10.50 kg of gold valued at Rs 6.64 crore across 15 cases. Earlier, Mumbai Customs have arrested two passengers and seized over 7.80 kg of gold, electronics valued at Rs 5.54 crore, and foreign currency valued at Rs 0.22 crore, in 18 cases.
According to the officials, the arrests were made from June 4 to 7.
The gold that was seized by Mumbai Customs was concealed in metallic rods, undergarments, and the body of the accused, the officials added
Meanwhile, Mumbai Customs from 19 to 21 seized gold worth over 6.815 Kg valued at Rs 4.44 crore and diamonds in 13 cases, said officials, adding that four passengers were arrested in the case.
"During 19-21 April 2024, customs" Mumbai Customs seized over 6.815 Kg of gold valued at Rs 4.44 crores and diamonds valued at Rs 2.02 crores, total amounting to Rs 6.46 crores in 13 cases. Four people were arrested in connection with the case," the official further said.
