Chandigarh, July 22: Rains lashed Haryana and a few parts of neighbouring Punjab on Wednesday, causing maximum temperatures in the two states to remain well below normal limits.
Chandigarh, the common capital, recorded a maximum of 31 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal, according to the Meteorological Department here. In Haryana, Karnal, which received 10 mm of rainfall, recorded a high of 28 degrees Celsius, six notches below normal. Hisar, which received light rains, recorded a high of 30 degrees Celsius, six notches below normal. Ambala and Narnaul, which also received rains, recorded below-normal maximums at 28.8 degrees Celsius and 31 degrees Celsius, respectively. Gurgaon received a heavy downpour. Patiala in Punjab, which received light showers, recorded a maximum of 30.9 degrees Celsius, three notches lower than normal.
Amritsar and Ludhiana registered below-normal maximums of 32.6 degrees Celsius and 31.8 degrees Celsius, respectively. The MeT has forecast likely rain or thundershowers at a few to many places in Haryana and Punjab over the next two days.
