Thiruvananthapuram (Keralam) [India], July 13 (ANI): Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama on Monday urged the Keralam government not to implement the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme, claiming it reflects the RSS agenda.
It also demanded establishing an Arabic University and greater representation for minorities in government boards.

Addressing the press conference after a meeting with Chief Minister VD Satheesan, Samastha leader Umar Faizy Mukkam said the delegation submitted a memorandum.
"We briefed the Chief Minister on the demands and resolutions adopted as part of Samastha's centenary celebrations. Our delegation discussed issues concerning backward communities and underdeveloped regions in the state and submitted a memorandum outlining our demands," he said.
"We urged the government not to implement the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme, as we believe it reflects the RSS agenda. We conveyed our concern that it would have a harmful impact on society. There are political motives behind the PM SHRI scheme. We have also highlighted this concern in the memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister," he added.
Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama also extended support to the state's anti-drug campaign.
"Our priority is to ensure that eligible communities receive the benefits they are entitled to. There are several government initiatives that deserve our support, and Operation Thoofan is one of them. We have extended our full support to that initiative," Mukkam said.
He said Samastha had sought several measures in the education sector.
"We also placed several demands related to the education sector, including the establishment of an Arabic University. In addition, we sought adequate representation for minorities in government boards. We received a positive response from the Chief Minister and the ministers," he said.
On administrative reorganisation, Mukkam said the organisation had demanded that districts be reorganised based on population density.
"We have demanded that districts be reorganised based on population density. This demand is not limited to Malappuram alone. However, Malappuram has a significantly larger population compared to many other districts, and that reality must be taken into account," he added. (ANI)
