Bollywood has once again been gripped by a blast from the past, as an old interview clip featuring actor-model Muzammil Ibrahim discussing his former relationship with superstar Deepika Padukone recently resurfaced across social media. Muzammil Ibrahim on Viral Deepika Padukone Interview
On July 12-13, 2026, Muzammil Ibrahim took to his Instagram to set the record straight, explaining that the interview making rounds was, in fact, recorded over a year ago. He stated that the viral clips represented only "a few moments from a much longer conversation," lamenting how "the hesitations, the context and the respect with which some topics were approached get kind of lost in the editing process and when those excerpts are watched by themselves, or in isolation."
Ibrahim further stressed that he has always maintained respect when speaking about individuals from his past. "I have always tried to speak about people from my past with respect, and that remains unchanged," he wrote, adding, "Like many others, I have spent years focused on building my work and my life, and that is where I hope the conversation remains. I stand by speaking honestly, and I stand by doing so respectfully."

What Exactly Did He Say in the Old Interview?
The interview in question was originally conducted in June 2025 with journalist Siddharth Kannan. In the now-viral segments, Muzammil Ibrahim candidly spoke about his relationship with Deepika Padukone during their early modelling days in Mumbai. He claimed they dated for two years and that he was the first person Deepika met in the city, describing it as his "first actual relationship."
Perhaps the most talked-about revelation was Ibrahim's assertion that Deepika Padukone was the one who initially proposed to him, but it was he who ultimately ended the relationship. He infamously stated, "No, I never regret leaving anyone. Main sakth launda hoon bhai. (I am a tough guy, brother). I was a star at that time; she was not. She was a model. She is a superstar now; nobody knows me. I'm a big fan." Despite these claims, he also expressed admiration for Padukone's massive success, acknowledging her as a "beautiful woman" and a superstar. He further mentioned that they remained in touch after their breakup, occasionally congratulating each other, but lost contact once she married Ranveer Singh in November 2018.
Looking Ahead
While Muzammil Ibrahim (39) is currently in talks for a role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's highly anticipated film Love & War, which stars Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal and is slated for an Eid 2026 release, Deepika Padukone (40) continues to dominate Bollywood's top tier.
