Surat, Nov 8 (PTI) Surat reported194 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, the highest for any district in Gujarat, taking the overall count to 37,362, while 217 people were discharged and two succumbed to the infection during the day, an official said.
The toll in the district is 1,030, and the number of people who have been discharged in city limits is 26,336, giving the latter areas a recovery rate of 93.8 per cent, he said.
"Surat city reported 169 recoveries compared to 160 new cases. The rural areas reported 48 recoveries compared to 34 new cases," he added.
Surat MunicipalCorporation (SMC) officials said 13,627 persons are quarantined and 336 hospitalised, including 110 in the state-run civil hospital and 76 in civic-run SMIMER Hospital.

The two hospitals have bed occupancy rates of 4.94 and 9.26 per cent respectively.
In rural Surat, COVID-19 cases in Kamrej rose to 2,074, the highest among nine talukas, with six new cases on Sunday, officials said.
