Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 17 (ANI): Varanasi Divisional Commissioner S. Rajalingam conducted extensive tours to assess the progress of development projects in the district on Monday.
In this regard, the Divisional Commissioner arrived directly at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport today to review the developments.

He first visited the Integrated Air Cargo Terminal and thoroughly examined its operations and other aspects. The Integrated Air Cargo Terminal spans 8,800 square meters, helping farmers export their produce to the Gulf countries. The Divisional Commissioner conducted a field inspection of the ongoing airport runway expansion and inquired about the development work. He directed the immediate removal of structures obstructing the expansion.
Calling the development of cargo facilities crucial for Varanasi's growing air connectivity and commercial activity, he directed the concerned officials to complete the necessary arrangements expeditiously. He also closely reviewed the runway works and directed strict adherence to safety and technical standards. A show cause notice was issued to the Tehsildar, Pindra, for laxity in the runway expansion work.

During the inspection, the Divisional Commissioner directed officials to ensure that all works are completed in a time-bound manner, adhering to prescribed standards and quality benchmarks. He instructed that special attention be paid to safety standards during construction and development activities and that the impact of these works on passengers and airport operations be minimised.
The Divisional Commissioner asked officials from the concerned departments and airport management to work in coordination and regularly review the project's progress. He stated that strengthening airport-related infrastructure would further boost Varanasi's development and regional connectivity.
The Divisional Commissioner conducted a site inspection of the cricket stadium at Ganjari to review the current progress of construction and development works.
He gathered details about various aspects of the project from the concerned officials and representatives of the executing agency, while also assessing the quality of construction and the pace of work.
While inspecting the ongoing construction within the stadium complex, he directed that high-quality work meeting the prescribed standards be ensured. He emphasised that all project-related tasks must be completed within the stipulated timeframe and that no negligence should be tolerated.
During the inspection, the Divisional Commissioner took a detailed review of the progress of the work and instructed the concerned officials to work in coordination. He urged special attention to the quality of construction materials, security arrangements, and the development of essential facilities. He stated that the Ganjari Cricket Stadium is an important project for Varanasi. Its construction will promote sports activities in the region and provide better sports facilities to players.
It is noteworthy that the international cricket stadium being built in Ganjari, Varanasi, at a cost of ₹350 crore, will prove to be a milestone in the region's development. More than 80% of the stadium's construction work is complete and is scheduled to be completed by early October. The Divisional Commissioner inspected the ongoing construction of the Sadguru Eye Hospital in Ganjari and obtained pertinent information about the project's progress.
SDM Rajatalab Shantanu, along with officials from the relevant departments, representatives of the implementing agency, and other officials, were present on the occasion. (ANI)
