Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], October 16 (ANI): The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) has alleged that its candidates are facing intimidation and obstruction during the nomination process for local body elections in Kadapa and has urged the State Election Commission to intervene immediately.
In a letter dated October 16 to the Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner, YSRCP State General Secretary and MLC Lella Appi Reddy alleged that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activists had forcibly snatched nomination papers from YSRCP candidates, preventing them from submitting their nominations.

The party also alleged that police personnel had failed to intervene and protect the candidates, while Executive Officers and Returning Officers in several instances had refused to accept nomination papers submitted by YSRCP candidates.
Describing the alleged incidents as a threat to free and fair elections, Appi Reddy urged the State Election Commission to issue immediate directions to the concerned election and police officials to ensure adequate security for candidates, prevent interference and accept nomination papers in accordance with prescribed rules.

The letter also called on the Commission to obtain compliance reports, inquire into the alleged obstruction and refusal to receive nomination papers, and take appropriate action against those found responsible.
“Every affected candidate must be enabled to submit nomination papers safely and within the prescribed deadline,” the letter stated.
Appi Reddy further warned that delays could deprive candidates of the opportunity to contest the elections and urged the Commission to ensure a fair and unobstructed nomination process.
A copy of the letter was also addressed to the Election Commission of India in New Delhi. (ANI)
