Mumbai, Oct 23 (PTI) Maharashtra Police Tuesday registered a case of cheating against entrepreneur-politician Nowhera Shaikh for duping investors, an official said.

A case of cheating was registered against Shaikh at J J Marg police station in South Mumbai on the complaint of an investor who was alleged cheated of Rs 3 lakh, said senior police inspector Shirish Gaikwad.

"We have transferred this offence to the economics offence wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police," he said.

Shaikh, Managing Director of Heera Group of Companies, had allegedly promised investors attractive returns on their investments, but failed to return their money.

She was recently arrested in New Delhi by Hyderabad police.
