Sports News | BCCI Invites Applications for Five Positions on Junior Cricket Committee

New Delhi [India], August 24 (ANI): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday invited applications for five positions on its Junior Cricket Committee, which will be responsible for selecting and developing India's age-group teams up to the Under-22 level.

The committee members will oversee the selection of junior teams for coaching camps as well as India's domestic and international fixtures, both at home and overseas, across formats.

According to a media release from the BCCI, the committee will also play a key role in identifying young talent and building a strong bench strength for India's junior teams.

Among the key responsibilities of the committee members will be selecting the best possible age-group squads in a fair and transparent manner, scouting and assessing players during domestic and international matches, and contributing to the development of teams for camps, tours and tournaments.

The committee will also be responsible for vetting and selecting coaches and support staff, including physiotherapists, trainers, therapists, analysts and medical personnel, for the respective junior teams.

Members will oversee the performance and development of the teams, prepare periodic evaluation reports and appoint captains across formats. They will also be involved in organising BCCI junior tournaments and overseas tours and handling matters related to their conduct and administration.

The BCCI has also emphasised the importance of promoting ethical values among young cricketers. Committee members will be expected to create awareness around issues such as drugs, betting and match-fixing through interactions with senior and former players.

To be eligible, applicants must be former players who have represented their teams in at least 25 First-Class matches and must have retired from the game at least five years ago.

The BCCI's Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations also state that anyone who has served on any Cricket Committee for a cumulative period of five years will not be eligible for membership of the Junior Cricket Committee.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications by 5:00 PM IST on September 5, 2026. Following the screening and shortlisting process, selected candidates will be called for personal interviews as part of the further evaluation process.

The five-member committee will play a significant role in shaping India's junior cricket structure and identifying the next generation of players who could progress into the senior national setup. (ANI)
