Washington D.C. [USA], Nov 19 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump on Sunday said that he will not get involved in the decisions taken by the newly-appointed acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker in the Mueller investigation.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Trump said that if Whitaker decides to curtail the investigation that looks into possible collusion with Russia in Trump's 2014 presidential campaign, he will not get involved or overrule him.

When asked if Trump was aware of Whitaker's harsh criticism of Mueller investigation, he said that he wasn't and further asserted that Whitaker's opinion about the investigation is right as there was no collusion.

"Look he (Matthew Whitaker) -- it's going to be up to him. I think he's very well aware politically. I think he's astute politically. He's a very smart person. A very respected person. He's going to do what's right. I really believe he's going to do what's right," Trump said.

Trump also asserted that he has personally responded to the questions asked to him during the investigation while adding that the answers will be soon submitted.

Matthew Whitaker was appointed as the acting Attorney General by the Trump administration following the resignation of former Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Jeff Sessions resigned from the post on the request of Trump. (ANI)
